Our History

Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home was founded on March 16, 1945, by R.O. Stockdale, Hildon King, Penick (Pennie) Malin & Terry Hale and operated under the name Stockdale, King & Malin Funeral Home. In 1948, L.R. Stockdale bought into the business and the name changed to Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home. In 1959 the Big Sandy Chapel was built and the following year, a new building at 133 North Forest Avenue was constructed, which continues to be the current location of today's business.

Gordon Wheatley began working at Stockdale-Malin in 1954. He and a partner bought into the business in 1965. In 1973 they became the sole owners. In 1974 they bought the Camden Funeral Home from Bobby Wofford and consolidated it with Stockdale-Malin. Mr. Gordon Wheatley continues to maintain his license as a funeral director and assists families today.
