Kathryn Melton

Vera Kathryn Melton, age 90, of Camden, TN, left this world to be with Jesus on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Paris, TN. Ms. Kathryn was born on April 24, 1934, in Benton County, TN to the late James Donley Melton and the late Lessie Lorene Berry Melton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fairell (Maw) Melton; daughter, Kathryn “Kathy” Melton Quinn; son, Jeffrey Floyd Melton; great-granddaughter, Kali Morgan Taylor; brothers, James “Jimmie” Dewayne Melton and William Foster Melton; and sister, Carolyn Joy Melton Gordon.

Kathryn was raised in the Harmon’s Creek area but lived most of her life in the Flatwoods community. Kathryn was a member of the Flatwoods United Methodist Church, where most of her family before her attended, as well. Kathryn loved her family, and she was so proud to brag on her family to friends, and most anyone. Kathryn helped care for both grandchildren in their younger years and, with her mother Lorene, cooked weekly meals for the family for many, many years. She was known for her delicious coconut cake and baked many for functions at church and donations for local fundraisers. She was a strong, independent woman with a feisty and spunky spirit. She loved a good joke and sit and laugh with friends. Kathryn also treasured her time spent with her many friends. In earlier years, she and her husband Fairell spent most evenings with friends at “The Liar’s Table” at The Catfish Place. For the last many years, she met up with friends’ multiple days a week at a designated restaurant for fellowship that she treasured. She had a special group of friends at “Wendy’s” that met for over 15 years, as well as an afternoon routine at “The Coffee Shop” with her special neighbors. Kathryn’s presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who treasured and loved her so much.

Grandchildren: Karla Quinn (Rafael) Calderon and Allison Leigh Melton

Great Grandchildren: Alex Kathryn Taylor, Karolina Danielle Calderon, Rafael Angel Calderon, Jr.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 12 Noon at Flatwoods Cemetery in Camden, TN with Bro. Mark Earhart officiating.
