Les Smith, age 77, of Big Sandy, TN passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jackson, TN. Les was born December 8, 1946, in Kinmundy, IL.

Les served as a Combat Medic in Vietnam from March 19, 1966 to March 19, 1968, earning several medals including a Commendation Medal with “V” Device for heroism.

After retiring from Quebcor in Effingham, IL he had more time to enjoy family, metal detect, study Civil War History, read westerns, watch the wildlife, and spoil his cat, Gemini.

Wife of 49 years: Hope Smith of Big Sandy, TN

Son: Michael Smith (Terri) of Shawneetown, IL

            Grandchildren: Dominick and Sean

           Great Grandchildren: Thea, Avery, Bella, and Lilly

Daughter: Tami Shull (Brian) of Big Sandy, TN

Grandchildren: Amy, Shelby, Benjamin, Nick, and Wendy

Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Shelbie Lynn, Brian, Braxton, Peyton, Linkon, Hallie, Sydney, and Rosalie

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at First Baptist Church Big Sandy. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. There will be a meal served after the service in the CLC at First Baptist Church Big Sandy.
