Carole J. Crafton

Carole J. Crafton age 76 of Dixon died on Wednesday Sept. 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 3, 1947 in Effingham, IL the daughter of Carroll "TV" and Izetta Blanche (Martin) McCaherty. Carole worked for the Dixon State School and then for the Illinois Dept. of Corrections Dixon Correctional Center from 1985 to 2002. She volunteered locally with the Special Olympics. Carole married George "Wiley" Crafton on Sept. 1, 1967 in Dixon, IL and he preceded her in death on Jan 22, 1981. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother Michael McCaherty, fiance Howie Mighell, and one step son Martin Mighell. Carole is survived by her daughter Kim (Ted) Hvarre, 3 grandchildren Brandon Bartow, Eaden Hvarre, Evelynn Hvarre, Step Children Chris (Lisa) Mighell, Karen Mighell, step daughter in law Christine Mighell, step grandchildren Brittany (Jake) Stewart, Cody (Kennedy) Mighell, Brandi (Colin) Balayti, Joel Mighell, Jennifer Mighell, McKayla (Peter) Toth, and 6 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Patrick McCaherty, and sisters Cheryl Guenzler, and Kathy (Rich) Kelly.

Funeral services will be on Monday Sept. 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.

Visitation will be on Sunday Sept. 24, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. A memorial has been established to Northwestern IL Special Olympics. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.

Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Camden, TN will be in charge of burial at Eastview Cemetery at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 28, 2023.
