Blanche Minnie Smits

Blanche Minnie Hall Smits, 93, of Big Sandy TN, passed away Oct. 24, 2021. She chose cremation and her ashes will be placed in Argonne, WI.  Mrs. Smits was born on July 18, 1928 in Two Rivers, WI.  During WWII she was a “Rosie the Riveter” where she met her husband of 64 years, Ralph J. Smits. They married on March 2, 1946. They resided in WI until 2005 when they retired to Big Sandy. She was a farmer and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, three sons:  Randall, Russell, and Rock, two sisters Eva Sanders and Ruby Herrington, and brother Herbert Hall.

She is survived by a daughter, Trudy Roush-Heywood of Holladay, TN, two sons Ralph Ted Smits of Gallatin, TN and Richard Smits of Big Sandy, TN.  Also, grandchildren Jerry Roush II, Kelly Smits, Casey Jelinski (Tim), Crissy Smits, Rick Smits, Kevin Smits, Sharon Ziewacz (Brian), Nikki Braatz (Scott), Shannon Wengeler (Steve), Wayne Smits (Jen), and 22 great grand children.
