Bill Shelton

July 4, 1947 — June 16, 2021

Mr. Bill Shelton, age 73, of Big Sandy, passed away on June 16, 2021, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  He was born in Red Bay, AL, on July 4, 1947, to the late James Maynard Shelton and Mary Helen Taylor Shelton and was also predeceased by a brother, Tom Shelton.  Bill loved his family with all his heart and soul; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather “Papa” to his six grandchildren and a loving son and brother.  Bill was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Big Sandy, a faithful follower of his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid student of God’s word, he loved to read, study, and teach the Bible, and he was a most excellent teacher and communicator.  His generous, compassionate, caring, giving spirit always allowed his true servant’s heart to shine through. Bill cherished the time he shared with family and celebrating those treasured family traditions. He had an unparalleled love for his wife of 52 years, his three children, and precious grandchildren.  Bill loved working in the yard, garden, and around the house; he also enjoyed all music, especially gospel, including old hymns.  He is leaving a void here, but Heaven is more splendid since his arrival.

II Corinthians 5:8 “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
