Jennifer Kay Crockett

Jennifer Kay Crockett, 67, of Big Sandy passed away on February 10 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, following a prolonged illness. Ms. Crockett graduated as valedictorian from Big Sandy High School in 1965, attended Union University, graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1969, and earned a Master's degree in microbiology from Medical College of Georgia in 1972. Ms. Crockett worked for the VA hospital in Nashville as microbiology supervisor and administrator in pathology, retiring in 1991. In retirement she lived for a while in Nashville, later in Marietta, GA and finally returned to her hometown of Big Sandy in 2010. Ms. Crockett is survived by her brother, David I. Crockett II of Jackson, TN and sister, Judith Crockett Davis of Marietta, GA, nieces and nephews, David Crockett III, Michael Crockett, and Anna Crockett of Jackson, TN; Diana Davis of Atlanta, GA and MAJ Neal Davis of Ft. Hood, TX. Afflicted with an immune disorder from early childhood, she was a person of strong faith and achieved success in spite of illness. Funeral services will be held at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Big Sandy at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 14, with visitation from 12:00-2:00pm.
